My Day At The 32nd Annual Golf Challenge
Thank you to all the golfers, sponsors, committee members, volunteers, and the Atkinson Resort & Country Club for making the 32nd Annual Golf Challenge a success! On Monday, August 23rd, over 100 golfers reunited with family, friends, and colleagues for a day of golf, raffles, food, and lots of fun.
Essential in making the Golf Challenge possible were Laura Brousseau and Bonnie Roberts, who have been the committee chairs for the past two years. Laura said, “I can honestly say that I had a moment when we were listening to our gracious MC and supporter Dave Camell tell his story about how Community Crossroads has touched and continues to touch his life. It truly touched my heart and it was amazing to look across the room at all the sponsors, new and returning golfers, Community Crossroads leadership, and volunteers who were there to support our cause and Community Crossroads.” Bonnie agreed with Laura and shared that she is still in awe of the day’s success. “Last year we succeeded in spite of a global pandemic, this year we succeeded in spite of Hurricane Henri. Our amazing golfers and volunteers prove time and again that they are here to support Community Crossroads, even in the face of such unprecedented events.”
Crucial to the success of our Golf Challenge, and so many of our other fundraisers and efforts throughout the year are our sponsors. John DeBaun, Sr. VP at Pentucket Bank, golfer, and member of our Board of Directors said, “Pentucket Bank and Community Crossroads are both “mission-based” organizations. Pentucket Bank’s mission is to serve our communities, and Community Crossroads has a mission to serve its clients. These missions wonderfully overlap in our day-to-day service of Community Crossroads and its clients, and in our participation on the Board of Directors and its various events and fundraisers.” We are extremely grateful that Pentucket Bank was our Premier Corporate Sponsor at this year’s event.
Golfers and volunteers at this year’s event came from all across New Hampshire and beyond. Adele Prairie and Beth Heidebrecht, who both work at the Massachusetts branch of Skyward Specialty Insurance, dedicated their time to support our organization and donated golf towels for our golfers’ bags. “One of our missions at Skyward is ‘lifting up our community’. We’re dedicated to moving the world forward and that starts with the communities in which we live and work. We chose Community Crossroads based on a similar mindset and services you provide to your community,” Adele said.
Throughout the day – I witnessed a group of people who are passionate about our organization’s mission come together for a day of golf, raffles, and laughs! I was able to capture stories throughout the day about why golfers and volunteers decided to spend their day at our event. It is clear to me that our mission and values continue to grow, and more people than ever are advocating for inclusion and accessibility for those of all abilities.
