Meet the Board…James Dickerson

Community Crossroads is governed by an all volunteer Board of Directors. By law, at least a third of the members must be someone with a developmental disability or a family member of someone with a developmental disability. There are currently 15 members of the Board of Directors. Some have been on the Board for several years and have helped make crucial decisions for the organization while others are brand new members looking forward to being involved.

Dr. James Dickerson had only been a year into starting his new dental practice, Pediatric Dentistry of Salem, when he was asked by Dennis Powers to be on the Community Crossroads Board of Directors. As someone who valued the goals and mission of Community Crossroads, Jim said yes to being on the Board. This was over 25 years ago.

Today, Dr. Dickerson is still proudly on the Board of Directors and sees our agency as one that “leads the way with new and innovative things to do”. Jim mentioned that being a part of the Board of Directors is great because there are so many people that make our agency so special. From the Board to the employees to the partners in the community and so many others, Jim noted how nice it is to be associated with so many great people.

An aspect of Community Crossroads that has seen major growth in recent years is the Oral Health Program. This program, developed by Angela Boyle, has benefited greatly from Angela having communication with local dentists such as Dr. Dickerson. He noted that he hopes this program will continue to grow and be successful.

Jim also attends the Annual Golf Tournament each September where he enjoys seeing familiar faces and being a part of such a wonderful fundraiser.
