Family Support Council Gives New Opportunities Through Grant
Each year, the Family Support Council gives grants to families so they can attend the annual Family Support Conference. Unfortunately, this past April, the Family Support Conference was cancelled due to COVID 19. As a result, the Council had enough money to allow 95 families the opportunity to participate in fun activities this summer that they may not have otherwise taken part in due to the financial reasons. Typically this is possible because of both the Council and the Fundraising Committee but this year, the Council used their funds for all grant applications.
Family Support Liaison, Aleece Pappas said this benefits so many people because it keeps them active at a time when these individuals would typically be in summer school. Aleece noted some of the activities these funds are going to include a virtual cooking class and access to a garden that is accessible to the person’s needs. While this year is different from past years in terms of how the money is being used, the Campership Grant is available each year and you can apply for it each April. Any family with a loved one living at home is eligible to receive this support.
